SEATTLE, WA -October 09, 2013 -Mars Hill Music / BEC Recordings celebrates the strong launch of Dustin Kensrue's release "The Water and The Blood," which released on September 30th selling more than 7k units. The full-length worship project debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Christian chart, No. 52 on Billboard 200 and the special vinyl release at No. 10 on overall Vinyl chart. During the release week, Kensrue's project remains at No. 2 on the iTunes Christian albums chart.
This project is a collection of mostly original worship songs, blending modern musical sensibilities and sounds with lyrics expounding a depth of robust and life-giving theological truth. This is the third full-length release from the partnership with Mars Hill Music / BEC Recordings.
Media have gravitated to this project giving it high praise and attention. Kensrue was featured with such publications like Worship Leader, HM Magazine, Absolute Punk, Property of Zach, and Christian Post. Here are samples of what the media have said about "The Water and The Blood."
"If this is what church sounds like these days, Kensrue could beckon a whole new audience to his services-and that's entirely why the album came to be." -- AltPress
"Kensrue's album is a good blend of indie and alternative rock that is both melodic and emotive. As in his earlier work with Thrice, the music that he crafts is complex in both its tone and lyrics. In short, it's not the typical worship record you would find from the Passion crowd." -- FaithVillage
"The Water & the Blood is a definite must-have for someone longing for a deeper, more personal worship experience. Musically, it may be unmatched in recent years and lyrically it won't leave you bored, but instead will fuel your desire to worship God through song even when you're not at church." -- JesusFreakHideout
"The Water and the Blood" puts aside conventional notions of corporate worship in favour for a more singular approach to both song-writing and composition." -- TheChristianManifesto
Kensrue, a Worship Pastor at Mars Hill Church, oversees Mars Hill Music and leads worship weekly at Mars Hill Bellevue. He will also be a part of the Resurgence Conference this November 5 and 6. 'R13' will be live from Seattle, where Kensrue will be leading worship, as well as four other satellite locations (Bellevue, WA, Reno, NV, Orlando, FL, Albuquerque, NM) where other Mars Hill Music bands will be playing live.
